The Exhibition for Chickens Festival of Moving Image (20/21) was organised in response to a directive ordering all poultry to enter enforced lockdown due to the presence in the country of avian influenza and the risk this poses to the food chain.

With the chickens unable to free range and instead holed up in a garage, the art community was once again called upon to provide much needed succour to these bored birds.

Starting with an outdoor screening (before the rules came into force) of the very first animation by celebrated artist Angela de la Cruz, the programme continued on a cinema screen inside the garage with work screened over several weeks by more UK-based artists: John Wood and Paul Harrison, Fiona Banner, Rehana Zaman, Holly Hendry, Jeremy Deller and Andy Holden.

We are grateful to all of the artists for their generosity and participation in the festival.
